It’s been a bigweek in AFL and there’s no doubt that the stakes will be high tomorrow between the Swans and the Hawks. We started the week with the humble acceptance of the 2014 Brownlow Medal by champion West Coast midfielder, Matt Priddis. His story of resilience and triumph, is one to inspire any budding elite athlete, and a reminder that from perseverance and determination – reward and satisfaction can result.
On Tuesday night Sydney Swans’ John Longmire was named AFL Coach of the Year at the AFL Coaches Association Awards night. Close on his heels was Alistair Clarkson, but the true test of coaching prowess will be on show tomorrow afternoon. Both Clarkson, Longmire and a host of other AFL Coaches have shone this year under challenging and often demanding circumstances. In particular an emphatic performance by Ken Hinkley and the formidable Port Adelaide side this year has proven that they have the might and the staying power to be a worrying grand final contender in 2015.
Last week, Infront CEO, Erin Devlin presented at the AFLCA Coaches conference, focussing on career development in a competitive environment. During the session Erin worked with coaches to identify key factors influencing job satisfaction and provided techniques for creating competitive advantage when pitching for coaching and non-coaching positions. Next week we’ll reveal the top job satisfaction factors for AFL Coaches, as voted by them.
